How many steps does one star take?

Each star takes five steps. The last step of a star completes it, and the highest progression is Star 10.

How many shards does a hero need in total?

Going from no stars to Star 10 takes 975 shards, and recruiting the hero first takes 10 more. Star costs rise from 10 shards for Star 1 to 300 for Star 10.

Do all heroes cost the same?

Yes. Every hero in the calculator follows the same shard cost per step, but each hero uses their own shards.

What does "I have not recruited this hero yet" do?

It adds the 10 shards needed to recruit the hero and starts the plan from no stars.

Which stats does "What this adds" show?

Only the Attack, Defense, Health and skill level cap that come from stars. See the hero's page for what each star unlocks.

How to use the Hero Star calculator

Choose your hero in "Hero".
Set the "Current progression" and the "Target progression" with the star buttons, or fine-tune them with "One step back" and "One step forward".
Tick "I have not recruited this hero yet" if you still need the shards to recruit the hero.
Optionally, enter your "Shards you already have" to see how far along you are.
Read "Shards required", "Still to collect" or "Left over", and check "Where you stand now" and "What this adds".
Use the "Shard cost per star" table to see the cost of every step.

Example: Natalie from Star 3 to Star 6

Choose Natalie, set the current progression to Star 3 and the target to Star 6. That is 15 upgrade steps, and the result asks for 130 shards.

Enter 150 Natalie Shards: the target is covered with 20 left over, and "Where you stand now" shows Star 6 reachable right now. "What this adds" lists +1,339.6 Attack, +155.8 Defense, +22,119.75 Health and a skill level cap going from 5 to 12.
